Sorry I haven't been on in a while...things have been pretty crazy!! Even though I went to the Colts Fan Fest last Wednesday I am just now getting the time to tell you all how exciting it was! I finally achieved my goal and was the FIRST in line for autographs! (the last two times the Colts came to town, my sisters and I were the first ones there, but second in line!) So this time we arrived hours early (5 hrs and 15 minutes early to be exact) and claimed our spot in line. (Ok, so technically we just walked around the streets for a while because the Colts had not arrived yet to set up, but hey, it counts) 2 and 1/2 hours later the second people in line showed up. However, we did have to fight for our first spot in line. We had to inform 9 groups of people that they were standing at the front of the line instead of the back! Now you have to understand, my sisters and I are very polite and shy. We don't usually tell people what to do or anything, so when the first group lined up in front of us, we kind of just stood there for a minute, not knowing what to do. Finally getting up the courage to inform them of their mistake, we made my older sister tell them. But by the 9th group we were pros.
Wednesday was a very hot day, and there was no shade anywhere, and me and my sisters, as smart as we are, did not put sunscreen on. Two of us, however, did have facepaint. Sounds like a good idea right? Well, no sunscreen, in the sun for over 5 hours, with GO COLTS painted on your face...let's just say that even after the facepaint came off, GO COLTS did not. Anyway, we got to meet Tyjuan Hagler and Roy Hall which was pretty cool. I got Hagler's autograph when he was here last year, but I was really excited to get Roy Hall's. I hope we get to see a lot more of him this year!

On February 19, 2008, Dish Network did something dispicable. They took away our NFL Network. This was so shocking to me and my dad...we made my mom call Dish and demand to know what was going on. She was informed that NFL Network was no longer part of the 100 channels in our package. It was moved to the 200 channels package (which is significantly more expensive). My family does not watch all that much TV...we don't watch half of the 100 channels we get now, what will we do with 200?!! We checked around and realized that to change to Direct TV would be more expensive, so we are temporarily without NFL Network. My mom does not want to upgrade until we absolutely have to (around the beginning of the season) just on principle. So me and my dad have been forced to get our NFL updates from other sources. Since it is basketball season and people in baseball are being accused of using steroids, football is not usually a hot topic on the regular sports channels like ESPN, so me and my dad had to get a new system going. See, my dad travels a lot during the day for his job, so he listens to the sports radio stations and gets his information there. I get my info from nfl.com, colts.com, and here. At the end of each day we give each other summaries of what we've learned. It's like an unspoken competition, the one with the juciest and most info wins. (I am reigning champ.)
However, some good did come of this disaster. I am watching far less TV (spending more time on the internet, but hey, I've got to stay caught up!) and I get the chance to talk more with my dad. The rest of the family gets kind of tired of hearing about all the teams in the league, they only care about the Colts, but me and dad can talk for hours about what other teams are doing and how it will affect the Colts.
So, now that the offseason has begun and my NFL Network has been taken away, I would like to thank all of you for helping me stay caught up on what's going on around the league and within the Colts franchise.

Spygate

I am really confused about all this new spygate stuff. Every time I turn on the sports networks they are either not talking about it or they are in the middle of talking about it, so I never get the full story. Knowing that I would be able to get the information I need from you guys, I decided to blog my question. All I know is the old stuff...the patriots were cheating and were slapped on the wrist for it...that's all I know. Someone PLEASE explain to me what is going on!

Fair-Weather Fans

There is nothing that gets on my nerves more than football fans who are only fans when the Superbowl is in sight. Now, I am proud to say that this post was not inspired by a Colts Fair-Weather Fan, but by a fan of another team. This week at school I noticed something strange. Something I have never seen before. Patriots jerseys. These jerseys came from nowhere. Normally seeing support for other teams does not bother me (mainly because I know that the Colts are the best and I feel sorry for the people who do not realize that) even when that other team is the Patriots. However, what does bother me is when those jerseys began appearing. Throughout my entire high school career I have seen only one person wear a Patriots jersey, and that is the only person I know who would proudly stick up for the Patriots through thick and thin. Strangely, though, all this week, I felt like Tom Brady was literally everywhere! This infuriates me! I mean the Patriots went 16-0 for crying out loud, but not a single jersey appears until they are headed for the AFC Championship? I, personally wear at least a Colts T-shirt every Monday (or whatever day is closest to the day of the game) no matter if we win or lose! Again, I have to add that the majority of the students at my school are Colts fans and we always support our team (as far as I can tell anyway) but surely when your team goes undefeated you would have enough confidence in them to wear their jersey before you can smell the Superbowl!
Disclaimer: This post is not strictly against the Patriots...it is against all fans who do not support their team 100% of the time. I only used the Patriots as an example because that is what I saw and it rubbed me the wrong way.
Now, I know that everyone on this site are devout Colts fans, so obviously this post is not directed at you. I just needed to vent because this made me very angry.
Also, I can see how this post might seem like I am offended for the Patriots, but rest assured I am not!! I do not mind that the Patriots have many fair-weather fans, what bothered me the most was that I'm sure that the Colts have many of them too. It reminded me of 2005 when we went 13-0 and suddenly Colts "fans" started popping up everywhere and jumped on the bandwagon. It makes me sick!
Sorry that this is so long, but I just had to get it off my chest.
