Tony Dungy is staying!!  Jim Irsay made it official, Tony will coach the Colts next year and maybe beyond that!!

Jim Irsay, Bill Polian and Tony Dungy all spoke at the press conference.  They all said that this is not necesarily Tony's last year.  He will re-evaluate next year.  Jim Caldwell is now named Associate Head Coach and will be more involved in the decision making process.

I think this is a great move on the organiozation's part. We are set for the future.  I hope Tony stays well beyond next year, but if he chooses to move on, we will have a coach in place who knows the system and the personell.

What are your thoughts on the situation?

Something to feel good about, and we're set for the future too, let's hope he has a healthy team for 2008. Go Blue!

Great news. They seem to be doing the things needed to make a smooth transition to a new head coach. I was hoping they wouldn't do things ala Chargers....big mistake. Looks like they're doing things right in Indy. Congrats

This is awesome news and it just goes to show what a commitment the Colts have to their organization and their fans. The future looks bright!!!

I read that Irsay is giving the use of his private jet to Dungy to commute to and from Tampa. Dungy is going to have less day to day duties. Dungy is picking out the next coach for the Colts? How much incentive is there to succeed? What is next, paying Dungy to stay home and be a consultant? Dungy states he wants football to serve as his platform. How sincere is a coach who wants to use football to further his personal agenda? I am through playing the Devil's advocate. Don't construe this as "anti" anything or anyone. I want what is best for the Indianapolis Colts' organization, and I am not sure that these concessions are what is best for this organization.

You said it all, it is a great news, and in the event that he would leave in the future we will have a coach in place, rather than shopping for one.
