This past Wednesday, May 21st, was Community Day out at IMS. What a great day we had! I picked my son up from school at noon so that he could go to. I do this every year. School is almost out, he's had a good year, so why not. Of all the times I've been out there, of all the times I've been on the track, I've never driven....until now! What a thrill that is. You can't go faster than highway speed, but you can kind of sneak it up there a little if you're careful. TEE HEE We got there, I drove the lap. My son took a bunch of pictures while I drove around the track. After we parked, we walked through the garage area. It's the only time of year that anyone, no matter what age, can go through the garage. Any other time you must be at least 18 to even think about it. While walking in to the garage area, we saw Rick Mears doing an interview. In the garage area, we saw lots of cars and different garage's. Sarah Fisher had hers opened up, and she was there! The tropy was on display too! After that we went out to the pit area where there were a bunch of cars from the museum. EXTREMLY cool!!! It was a beautiful day. Perfect weather! I took about 60 pictures. Most are in my new Community Day photo album. Take a peek if you like. Remember, the ones where I was actually driving around the track were taken by my 9 year old son. They came out fantastic. Next up...RACE DAY tomorrow. It should be a great race day!
