Jaguars Game

I'll keep this short because our staff is busy today preparing for the Carolina Panthers.  We landed about 4:00 am and need to get our scouting reports and practice plans done so we can have a normal practice tomorrow.  But we don't mind.  You tend to have a lot more energy when you're coming off a win, and that was a great win for us last night.

The city of Jacksonville was really hyped up about the game.  We could feel it as we were there Sunday and Monday.  The Jaguars have the type of team that gives us trouble.  They're very physical and they have two great backs so they can keep the ball away from our offense.  I think our defense really went into the game with a point to prove and it was a tough, hard fought, win.  We were solid in all three phases of the game.  But the thing I like the most is I didn't get the sense in the locker room that we were in any great celebration mode.  We had defeated a hot team but still had ways we could improve.  We know we have a short week to get ready for another road game against a team that is in first place in their division.  So the focus was on continuing to get better and I think we'll have a good week of practice.

We got some big contributions from a lot of people.  You could easily notice Bob Sanders and Reggie Wayne but guys like Kelvin Hayden and Ed Johnson really stepped up and played well.  Our kick coverage units are playing better every week and our punt team made two huge plays, downing punts inside the 10 yard line.  The second one set up Dwight Freeney's safety which turned the momentum back to us in the third quarter.

All in all, I was proud of our guys and I'm looking forward to getting started on Carolina.

Another great game from a great team with character that starts with the coach. The team apparently hears the message and "gets it". As I write this, the Carolina game just ended, so now we can all get ready for the next game against a team with a good record.

Great game, Coach! Looking forward to tomorrow's game against the Panthers! By the way, I loved your book -- it was very inspiring! I'm kind of embarrassed of this fact, but your book is the first one I've read cover to cover since high school, I think. I already lended it to my mom, who read it and then passed it on to my 12-year old son. Keep up the great work and thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such a great leader and helping to turn the Colts into a well-respected football powerhouse with players and staff we all can be proud of!

Great job coach Tony 'D'! What a gift we have been given being part of the Colts. I love the fact that you and the Colts take care of business on the field as role models with a good value system and carry that out to every day life. You help me struggle through my business and life problems using the same focus. If you ever get to Clearwater stop by. You can watch the Koi swim in the pond and have some barbecue with us. Let's beat the Panthers but tell the boys not to hit Vinny to hard as his bones are a little more brittle than most QBs. ...... B
