I finally got back to this wonderful book. Tonight at my sons karate class I sat and read two more chapters. It is such a wonderful book. I am planning on taking some ME time out of tomorrow afternoon, and getting another couple of chapters read.
So here is my take on chapters 4 and 5. I do not go in to much detail at all. I PROMISE reading this post will not spoil the book for you. At the end of the paragraph on Chapter 4 I do mention two very interesting facts from the book. So if you do not want to know...stop reading before you get to the end. (There is a warning where to stop if you don't want to know any facts.) ENJOY my thoughts on these two chapters, and feel free to post your own thoughts and/or comments.
Chapter 4: In this chapter Coach Dungy talks about the start of his NFL career both as a player and the start of his coaching career. I LOVE the story of how it was such a tough decission for him coming out of college, and deciding what to do as a professional ball player. Coach Dungy's faith, and prayer, helped him to make the decission he felt was right for him. He was always a man of faith, but it really strengthened when he became a player in the NFL with the Pittsburg Steelers. He had a very interesting carreer. In chapter 4 I learned some really cool facts about his journey as a NFL player. WARNING: If you do not want to know any facts from the book, skip on to the paragraph about Chapter 5 now. I did not know that when he won a Super Bowl as a player it was also in Miami as it was this past February. I had never heard that Tony Dungy was the first, and only player, to both catch an interception, and throw one in the same game. Those are just two of the very very cool facts we learn in Chapter 4.
Chapter 5: In Chapter 5 we learn how Tony Dungy met his wife Lauren. What a wonderfully sweet story. It makes you care for the man all the more. Tony Dungy is truly a wonderful man, as well as coach. His wife Lauren is a wonderful person as well. They match up nicely from what we learn in chapter 5.
I am sooooo looking forward to reading more in the book Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy. Like I said, the plan is to sit down and read a couple more chapters tomorrow afternoon.
Have a wonderful evening....
