Today I read chapters two and three. I am not a big reader. Especially of a bigger book like this, but I am loving this one so far.
I PROMISE not to go in to detail about the book for those who have yet to read, or start reading it.
In chapter two we learn more about his life growing up in Michigan. We meet his parents, and siblings a little bit. Learn more about how he grew up, and the values he was taught. Coach Dungy grew up with a wonderful family unit around him. His parents were wonderful people. His siblings are very successful on their own. He even has a sister, who is right here in Indianapolis. Reading this chapter you really get to know what made Tony Dungy the man he is, or at least what pointed him in the direction that made him such a good guy. We learn how his faith in god, and life, developed.
In chapter three we hear more about his sports life growing up. How he loved basketball and football alike. We learn what pointed him to the NFL, how he was influenced by different coaches. Tony Dungy is a loyal friend. We also get introduded to Tom Moore, the COLTS offensive coordinator, and learn how Coach Dungy was influenced as a young man by him. We learn a little bit of the difficulties being a black quarterback, and football player trying to move in to the NFL in the 1970's.
I'm ready for chapter four, and look forward to reading the rest of the book soon. I can tell it will be an eye opeing, heart wrenching, make ya want to cry, really feel something kind of book. THANK YOU Coach Dungy for writing it.
I invite you to post your thoughts here...
