Fair-Weather Fans

There is nothing that gets on my nerves more than football fans who are only fans when the Superbowl is in sight.  Now, I am proud to say that this post was not inspired by a Colts Fair-Weather Fan, but by a fan of another team.  This week at school I noticed something strange.  Something I have never seen before.  Patriots jerseys.  These jerseys came from nowhere.  Normally seeing support for other teams does not bother me (mainly because I know that the Colts are the best and I feel sorry for the people who do not realize that) even when that other team is the Patriots.  However, what does bother me is when those jerseys began appearing.  Throughout my entire high school career I have seen only one person wear a Patriots jersey, and that is the only person I know who would proudly stick up for the Patriots through thick and thin.  Strangely, though, all this week, I felt like Tom Brady was literally everywhere! This infuriates me!  I mean the Patriots went 16-0 for crying out loud, but not a single jersey appears until they are headed for the AFC Championship? I, personally wear at least a Colts T-shirt every Monday (or whatever day is closest to the day of the game) no matter if we win or lose! Again, I have to add that the majority of the students at my school are Colts fans and we always support our team (as far as I can tell anyway) but surely when your team goes undefeated you would have enough confidence in them to wear their jersey before you can smell the Superbowl!

Disclaimer: This post is not strictly against the Patriots...it is against all fans who do not support their team 100% of the time. I only used the Patriots as an example because that is what I saw and it rubbed me the wrong way.

Now, I know that everyone on this site are devout Colts fans, so obviously this post is not directed at you. I just needed to vent because this made me very angry.

Also, I can see how this post might seem like I am offended for the Patriots, but rest assured I am not!!  I do not mind that the Patriots have many fair-weather fans, what bothered me the most was that I'm sure that the Colts have many of them too.  It reminded me of 2005 when we went 13-0 and suddenly Colts "fans" started popping up everywhere and jumped on the bandwagon.  It makes me sick!

Sorry that this is so long, but I just had to get it off my chest.

Great blog!!! Gordon is right. Personally, I wear My Colts every day, Win or lose!!! I will not boo our team or former Colts with other teams, I even started a group-DontBooOurColts. You win some, you lose some, but a true fan will always stand behind their team!!!

I think all real football fans would agree with you, most of the people you're talking about would not know a linebacker from a tight end, just ask them a couple of questions. You'll see

I'm willing to bet the same people at your school who are wearing those Brady jerseys are attention hounds all year round or those who want to be a part of whatever is popular at the moment. Don't fret. If Manning can't do it, Favre sure can! And by "it", I mean beat the Pats. I'm no bandwagon jumper rest assured. My heart sank when the Colts lost last week. But if I have to root for someone now, first it would be anyone who plays the Pats, second, it would have to be Bret Favre and the Packers for all they accomplished this year. It's just too bad that Manning and Favre won't meet each other in Phoenix! That would have been one hell of a game! Proud to bleed blue like you!

Unfortunately you will always find those who jump from bandwagon to bandwagon but these are not fans of any kind, only bandwagon jumpers.
