Carolina Game

We just finished a very successful October, winning our 3rd game of the month at Carolina.  We got off to a slow start and everyone assumes it was because we were looking ahead to New England.  I don't think that was the case, but for whatever reason we were a little bit off the first quarter.  We missed some passes we usually hit and we fumbled a couple after the catch.  Carolina had a good offensive plan for us and they had a couple of good drives to open the game.  But our plan was to make them be patient and not give Steve Smith a deep ball and we thought we would be OK.

The defense really executed that plan and we made some third down stops to get the ball back for our offense.  Antoine Bethea made the play of the game for us, intercepting a ball in the end zone when we were down 7-3.  A Carolina score at that point would have gotten their crowd into the game, but we changed the momentum and got our offense going from there.  Joseph Addai and Reggie Wayne had big games for our offense and Gary Brackett and the LB's were very active on defense.

It was a milestone day where Peyton Manning paseed John Unitas on the Colts all time list for TD passes and I passed Ted Marchibroda and Don Shula for wins as a Colts coach.  It was very special for me, and to do it on a day when Peyton made history also was even more gratifying.  When you start out, you don't expect to break those kinds of records.  You hope to do it but you really don't expect to.  Hopefully, we'll have a few more of those moments to celebrate.

Now it's on to New England and a game that the whole country is talking about.  They are playing very well, winning by almost 4 TD's a game.  What you have to do in this situation is not get overwhelmed by the stats, as impressive as they are.  You can't have your team think they have to play a perfect game or that you need to come up with something different to win.  I think both teams will play their game and whoever is able to pressure the quarterback on defense and avoid turnovers on offense will win it.  But our task the next couple of days is just to focus on improving and not get caught up in the build up for the game.  It should be a fun week.

Coach, Great job against the Panthers and I know you will have the team ready for Sunday against the Pats. You are an insperation not only for your victories on the field, but the way you handle yourself off the field. You are truly a good coach and a great man. Good luck on Sunday

Coach, just like I tell my kids, just do the best you can. You are doing a tremendous job, as always. Because of you and the class act that is the Colts, we can all be proud, as fans and as Christians. Thanks for the inspiration.

It was both an honor and a pleasure to see the Colts in peron for the 1st time as they defeated the Panthers. It was an awesome game! It truely was one of the greatest experiences of my life and something I will never forget. I think the only thing better would be to watch them play in Indianapolis... Thanks and good luck this weekend.

Coach, just started reading your book last night (yes, I know...I'm a little behind!) I already have even more respect for you. I admire your ability to stay faithful to the Lord, and share it freely. I hope that I can learn to live through my faith the way you do. You are an inspiration! No matter the outcome Sunday, I am so thrilled that we have an honest, God-fearing man for our leader! GO COLTS!

It's a great week Coach! Thank you very much! We will all be there to support you and the entire organization this weekend. i am one of the less fortunate that will not be able to be at the game, but trust me when I say, I have just as much spirit as those that will be there and I will make sure our Colts are represented well where ever we select our seats for the game! Stay safe and healthy and "Just Do What We Do" - it will be FANTASTIC!!!

Dear Coach Dungy, I want to personally thank you for the very nice thing you done for me by sending me an autographed picture of yourself holding the Lombardi Trophy. I had the picture framed and matted in Colts colors with my ticket stub to the game and will cherish it greatly. I have followed your career for a long time and was very excited when you became Head Coach of the Colts as I knew of the great things to come our way as Colts. I am currently reading your book and find it most interesting & inspiring. From one Michigan native to another, thank you again and best wishes this weekend. I know you will make us proud as you always do. Mack Nolan

I am so proud of all of you I have to say the team I have watched play this year I feel is even better than the team that won the Superbowl last year, with the changes I have seen in the way the offense plays and the defense is definatly a force to reckoned with I think the only one's that should be worried are the Pat's and I can't wait to watch the game. Good Luck and God Bless. From an unrattled COLT'S FAN

For years we Colts fans were teased a little with a few playoff appearances since Super Bowl 5. But for the most part we lived in agony. I have said that Peyton was the best thing that ever happened to this team. I have changed my opinion on that. Tony, you bring an amazing amount of leadership and stabalization to the Colts. Without you I dont know if Peyton and Co. would be wearing that ring today. Thanks but lets not stop at 1!
