Postgame Colts Vs Raiders comments and a look ahead

I have slept on and reviewed yesterday's game.  It was definitly not a peice of artwork, but it was a win so I'll take it.  With all the defensive injuries I am not surprised at the success Justin Fargas had running against us.  The fact that Bob Sanders and Gary Brackett were the only defensive starters who started in the Super Bowl brings into persective just how injured the Colts are.

The fact that Aromashadu was used at wide reciever shows how depleted the offense was.  No excuses but it's amazing that the Colts continue to find ways to win with virtual unkonwns playing in key positions.

Enough about the Raidrs game, let's look forward.

Coach Dungy said today that he will treat this weekend's game against Houston as a regular game where something is at stake.  He is hoping to get many of the injured players back into action.  Then comes the question, what about the final regular season game against the Titans.  Is is best to keep the rhythm going, or is it better to rest key players?

There are good arguments on both sides.  We saw what happened back in 05 when many of the starters rested and then played poorly agains Pittsburg.  We also saw how last year they were playing for something right up till the end and had no bye week and plowed through the playoffs.

On the other hand, we have a lot of injured players who could get well with rest.  So what is the recipe for success?   What do you think Coach Dungy will do?  Share your thoughts and convince me why or why not they players should rest or play.  Also who do you NOT want to see in the firts playoof game?  Jacksonville, San Diego, Pittsburg?  Someone else scare you, maybe the Browns?

I think we'll see the starters play, but I expect a safe conservative gameplan. Doesn't make a lot of sense risking more injuries this late in the season.

There is no right answer, yet I understand why we should treat this weekend as a normal game. 1st we are home which there is no travel needed for Harrison or any of the other player that need sort of get back into the game. I would hope they get in just to get back in the game consider it a practice. now for the last game we should play the starter at least the 1st set or two, then rest them. I anm sure if couch see a danger he will not play them.

Great blog. I agree with Gordon, but I will let Coach Dungy figure out who to sit out.lol As for who to face first??? It wont matter, REPEAT,REPEAT!!

Coach Dungy has made all the right calls thus far, we just have to keep the faith and believe in whatever he decides. Its a hard call to make either way, and honestly I am glad it is him and not me. We have had a rough year with injuries, so yes, rest would be good, but then again, looking back the last time they rested all the starters.....well, Tony will do what is best!! I believe!!!

I think we will see all the starters play some limited time (2-3 qtrs)in each of the final two games so they stay in tune, Manning maybe even more based on who is on the offensive line - he has said he wants to play. I don't see us facing the Jaguars unless they would knock off the Pats because of the potential seeding but believe we will see the Steelers who will probably be the #3 seed and will beat the Browns first. (Revenge time) Scared? Definately not "scared" of and other NFL team - period!!! Colts shall REPEAT

I think they play this week and rest next! All I hear anybody talking about is how Indy struggled in 2005 after resting players - let's not forget about the tragedy this team dealt with that year, and no one will ever know what impact that had on that team! This team has lost ONE regular season game, and that ONE postseason game, coming off of a bye week under Coach Dungy, against SEVEN victories! This team needs HEALTH more than anything else, if they wish to challenge the Patriots in the playoffs!

I agree; coach Dungy will do what is right for the team. I hope the "Next Man UP" theory will continue to work. The Texans and Titans are really playing some good football here in the end. Can Jim Sorgi and the rest of the backups beat the Texans and Titans? I am not sure!! It was so close against the Cardinals in the final game in 05. The defense stepped up on fourth and goal and denied Kurt Warner from getting in the closing seconds. I hope they can do better and keep a team from coming back on them this year.

Great blog. I don't know what the recipe is, thank goodness I'm not the coach, huh? To be sure, there's a tightrope to walk between giving key players the right amount of rest and resting them too much, and bringing the injured players back soon enough to get back into the flow and bringing them back too soon and risking another injury. I'm sure Coach Dungy and the players who were around in 2005 remember what happened that year and are going to do the absolute best they can to keep it from happening again. I would least like to see Jacksonville first, because it's always a challenge to beat someone three times in the same season.

Great blog. Yes we are doing rather well with our backups. I am not sure what is the recipe for success would be. I know Coach will do what he thinks is best for the team. I don't want the starters to get too relaxed that when they come back they don't play well. I don't really know who I don't want to see first. Go Colts!!!!
