The first COLTS game in Lucas Oil

HAPPY MONDAY!

Yesterday was the first COLTS game in the new Lucas Oil Stadium.  The pregame was great.  Seeing the excitement on the faces of the fans was way cool!  I wish we were there!!  Watching it on tv was still good.  It was fun seeing them interview Marshall Faulk.  He seemed in awe of Lucas Oil Stadium.  There was a moment of silence for the memory of Gene Upshaw who passed away this past week.  We also learned that we the fans saw the stadium before most of the players.  That's kind of cool.

Buffalo got the ball first, and ended up punting.  Then the COLTS offense came out.  Much to everyone's surprise Jim Sorgi didn't start.  It was the leftie #13 Lorenzen.  It looks like Jim Sorgi had a bum knee when he got off the bus.  Peyton just watched from the sidelines.  The COLTS went 3 and out.  On the Bills next possesion they get 3. BUMMER...the COLTS weren't the first to score in Lucas Oil Stadium.  Wait til the regular season!

In the first half Marvin caught one, and my guy Darrell Reid had a BIG hit.  At half time it was 17 to 0 in favor of Buffalo.  In the second half backup backup QB Quinn Gray threw a 94 yard td pass!  It was a beautiful thing.  ...and one of very few last night.  Jeff Saturday got banged up.  #10 Courtney Roby had a 66 yard punt return.

I'm sooooooo looking forward to the regular season.  GO COLTS!

What are your thoughts on the opening game at Lucas Oil???

Great blog SS! I only wished I could have been there to experience the whole thing. Yes we lost, but as many of us, know thats just PRESEASON. Through the years this has been something we have usally seen, losses during preseason. Is this a sign, I think not! We ARE the Colts!! The grand opening of Our Home had to make lasting memories. Now for anyone who left early, keep me in mind for those preseason tickets next year, I'd gladly take them! Heck they had to drag me out of there at the end of the tour!!!! LOL

When it comes to preseason games, I don't expect great performances. It's a time to learn, not win. It's also a time to fine tune the roster. The Colts have the luxury of using the preseason to put things to the test as opposed to many teams that have to use it to sell tickets. I'm sure this game was very valuable as far as a learning experience for the young guys, as well as the coaches who have some very difficult roster decisions coming up. The grand opening of the Luke didn't dissapoint. It was a great night for Colts fans!!! Unlike most people, I didn't leave early, and I NEVER do. The stadium was awesome, and I was lucky to be able to spend the night with some great friends that enjoyed every last minute of our time in the Luke!!! Wish you could have been with us!!!

I was there also, and loved all the pregame activities but didn't care for how we performed on the field. I don't think the fans really got into this game, it just didn't have a feel of the right atmosphere to it. I hope that changes when the regular season starts Sept. 7 against the Bears. Go Colts !!!

I listened on the radio, and while kinda disappointed with the game as a whole; I was really nice to have Dwight and Bob back on the field! Also I look forward to seeing more of Jeff Charleston making some big hits. "Oh yeah, its time to dance the football dance:-)"

It doesn't get much better than that last night - what a celebration!!!! Better play on the field was the only thing that could have made it any better!

The stadium looked great, the game didn't. I left at half time. I am waiting for the regular season.

I was there and I loved every moment. The game was uneventful, but it is the pre-season, so I took the time to enjoy the fabulous new home of OUR COLTS-LUCAS OIL STADIUM. I took lots of pix (about 400) and have posted some on my page. I hope to be able to make it to some regular season games. I will be there Thurs vs. Bengals. HAPPY COLTSMAS!!!
