Read a lot of blogs and found lots of frustration out there!!! Already had plenty of my own:-)

Already felt crappy. Took of from work Saturday to attend a going away party for my neighbor. He is a firefighter and is going to Iraq for a year to do fire and safety inspections of US facilities...been some injuries and deaths due to shoddy workmanship and general greed that breeds shortcuts, but that is for another soapbox.

This leads to my second problem. Realized I have a crush on one of the neighborhood moms, when I caught myself having lewd thoughts about her. She's blonde and nicely shaped, and just a little older than me; has a nice smile, pretty laugh, and talks nice to me. Don't know her husband that well but have no wish to upset the balance of things, so will say nothing. Just another secret crush:-(

Now lets talk about football since I have added a little perspective:-)
                  1. Still have a great coach/man/human being I believe in!
                  2. I root for a proven vereran team that is just having a rough spot.
                  3. Rooting for said team has introduced me to some great people here.
                  4.  The years we sailed into the playoffs didn't turn out too well, whereas
the year our boys clawed their way into the playoffs, they won the whole
                       thing.
                 5. At least we weren't spanked by Miami...(sorry Bo!!! :-)
                 6. Our team has a bye next week to do some extra work and recuperating.

I  wasn't able to see the games as I was working, so don't know about the officiating. I did see where a penalty against our side extended the Jags' final drive to allow their field goal.
I am just guessing, but think Coach Dungy won't make a big deal about calls or lack thereof. He'll reiterate that it is up to the team to execute -- scoring on offense and making stops on defense --  and not make mistakes that cost the game.

It is always easier when things are going well; which is why today's quote of the day blog is about adversity. Its also a two-fer as I was too busy doing my part to keep the Margaritaville Brewing company in business last night:-)), to do a QOTD entry.

Please check it out. Hopefully you will gain some comfort from it as I did. That and the hope that I may be able to someday act on one of my secret crushes:-)))))))))))))

You make some great points. It is not going to be an easy season. That doesn't mean it is going to be a losing year. Like you,I feel hard fought games are a plus. I was there for my first time at the Luke the only disappointment was the final score. The facility and fans were top notch. Just being a part of the circus atmosphere was exciting. I will be a fan if we don't win another game this year!

She has a husband? Yeah, we were taking aboutthat penalty too but can't wait till the last 2 minutes to hope a penalty would save a game. We need to get healthy and play those sitting on the bench! We forgive you, It was Margarittia ville at half of the Florida Colts table also tonight.

The Day After

No not the nuclear holocaust movie, but close.
The dust has finally settled around here and while there are no "jumpers" at this time that I know of there, is still much resistance to my over / under pool on how many games the 'Skins will win. The (very generous:-) number is Eight. I have the under....way under:-) I was impressed with the scoring drive at the end of the second quarter that gained Washington their lone touchdown and have to wonder: "Why didn't they do more of that?" Nothing else seemed to work.
Is it just me or did anyone else think those were just cardboard cutouts on the field in the second half being moved around by NBC interns? Rather than inept, the Giants looked uninspired and disinterested. I guess a lack of urgency is better than an apparent lack of gameplan (or playbook study) which seemed to dog the Redskins.
I would have thought Joe Gibbs was happier to be back in racing, at least before his boy got fined for cheating with....magnets. :-) (Jack O'neil reference anyone?)
Oh well, back to th egrind of working before I can totally lose my mind to football on Sunday!

As summer starts to fade..

...I begin to hear a new sound rising from the background noise; kinda like the start of an Alice Cooper song. Hey, hey, hey, hey................hey, hey, hey, hey................hey______________ ! The song was Hey Stoopid, but I now insert the term; "its football! :-)     It feels right too! I made my picks for Gordon38's weekly picks contest, drafted my fantasy team on NFL.com (roster to follow:-), and started planning  my schedule for kickoff weekend! But all is not lost: my neighborhood pool is open for two more weekends (which means 3 more weeks before I lose my tan:-( , The weather is supposed to be quite nice here for the next week, and I am a Colts fan...which means I know where I'll be come January (unlike many of the people around me here in 'Skins territory)!
Like I told the guys at work: "Oh, its on now clowns!!!!!:-)"

Aaaaah! The sounds of....Summer?

The Johnsonville's are sizzlin' on the grill, the Summer Ale is gurgling into an icy glass, insects are buzzing nearby, and that muffled noise is...me in the basement getting wound up over a Colts game on TV! I am so doomed...its only the pre-season:-) Mostly cause I would be feasting on seven courses of crow from harassing the Redskins fans I work with, the next day. :-) I liked what I saw of the new guys and felt alot better today after reading some interviews with Coach Dungy; If he's happy, then I'm happy:-)
I have to think this is truly the best time of the year: There is swimming, grilling and other outdoor activities as well, but now I also get to check out our Colts in live action (as well as those other teams in the league:-) rather that settling for reliving past glories through video or the generosity  of the NFL network.
All I have to do now is re-learn my breathing and heart rate control techniques so I don't suffer a vapor lock during the regular season.....I would hate to miss something really exciting!:-)))))
Go Colts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
